NEWS RELEASE - Sharon Pinder Receives Baltimore SmartCEO Bravo! Women Business Achievement Award

Baltimore, MD – Sharon R. Pinder, President and CEO of The Pinder Group, a business development firm specializing in business makeovers, coaching, marketing and strategic planning, has been named

one of Baltimore SmartCEO Magazine’s 25 Bravo! Women Business Achievement Award recipients. Pinder is also the founder of the Top 100 Minority Business Enterprises™ program (www.top100mbe.com). Pinder received her award this morning at a ceremony at the Crowne Plaza in Timonium.

A former Maryland cabinet official, Pinder boosted the small and minority business movement as Maryland’s first appointed Special Secretary of the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs (2003-2006). Before her appointment to the Maryland Governor’s cabinet, Pinder was a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur, working for Fortune 500 corporations like General Electric (GE) and Traveler's Insurance. Pinder is the author of the upcoming book “On the Backs of Blacks, the Untold Stories of the Minority Business Movement.” Pinder continues to serve her community through her work on the board of directors of the Humanim, Inc., Maryland Works Inc., Maryland Women’s Heritage Center, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and the University of Maryland University College. Pinder is also the executive chair of the Maryland-Liberia Sister States Program.
